Scholarships

The Rock Island Milan Education Foundation administers a number of scholarships each year, which reward and encourage high school students to pursue education after high school. 

Nellie D. Anthony Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship, for a Rocky student only, is based on demonstrated financial need, citizenship, good academic standing, and school and community activities. The scholarship can only be used at a college or university in Iowa or Illinois. Essay required. The award is approximately $1,000-$1,500. Deadline April 30th.

Hass Family Scholarships
Offered to Rocky students only. Open to seniors with a 3.0 GPA leadership skills and good character. Must not be in the top 10. Approximately $3,500 non-renewable award. Deadline April 30th.

The Amy Helpenstell Liberal Arts Scholarship
This scholarship is for graduating senior Rocky students only who are planning to attend Augustana College. Award based on financial need, citizenship and good academic standing. Students must verify admittance to Augustana. Award is $800-$1000. Deadline April 30th.

Judith A. Katz Fine Arts Scholarship
Rock Island High School seniors are eligible. Criteria: financial need, active in school and community, citizenship, good standing academically, and has been in music, drama, or art for two years. Award: $4,000 over two years. Deadline April 30th.

R. Decker Magee Memorial Scholarship
Must plan to attend college or vocational school. Based on participation in activities, character, and conduct. Must have a C+ average. Award $500. Deadline April 30th.

Stanley H. Coin Business Scholarship
RIHS seniors in top 25% of the class. Must have participated in the business curriculum at Rocky for at least two years. Financial need and school and community involvement are considered. Award: $2,500. Deadline April 30th.

Rock Island High School Class of 1965 Scholarship
Students must be a senior at Rock Island High School. Award based on financial need, citizenship, good academic standing, school and community activities. Award: $500. Deadline April 30th.

Thoms Family Above and Beyond Scholarship
For Juniors only. Project based. Final award: $5,000. Deadline April 21st. www.aboveandbeyondscholarship.com
